The Operational aspects of Business Continuity cover a multitude of elements including Information Communications Technology (ICT), the commercial and financial elements of your business as well as the Human Resource (HR) side of things.

The potential operational threats to your business are myriad and are not necessarily hi-tech. They could range from your top employee being called for Jury Service or being head hunted by a rival to an employee downloading inappropraite images onto your system.

They could also include a technical failure with your office system or an unexpected increase in a exchange rate of a foreign supplier making your good unprofitable – the list is almost endless. It is unlikely that you can take action to cover all eventualities,  but forewarned is forearmed!

The effectiveness of any pre-emptive or corrective action is to test it – just because it looks good on paper doesn’t mean it will work in real life, so testing it regularly is essential.
